Mexico ranks among the lowest in Latin America when it comes to mental health awareness and access to treatment, falling short of international standards according to the World Health Organization. Since 2020, employers have been required to comply with new regulations that mandate policies designed to identify and mitigate psychological risks in the workplace—such as anxiety, sleep disorders, and stress. Mental health has also become a prominent issue on the national agenda, alongside gender equality in the workforce. What are the current barriers employers face in increasing women’s participation, and how are new regulations playing a role?
