Few human endeavors have the power to inspire like athletic excellence. For this reason, competitions, tournaments, and championships claim the attention of billions around the world—and bring riches in revenue for the sports industry and individual athletes. How can philanthropic sports leaders best leverage their inspirational power and massive bankrolls to make a better world? This private session at the Milken Institute Global Conference will convene 30 to 40 senior-level participants, including leaders in sports philanthropy as well as others who are eager to get into the game. This group will explore the strategies sports leaders have pursued to make a difference, the lessons they have learned, and the varied opportunities for meaningfully expanding sports philanthropy, including prize competitions, funder collaboratives, and other joint efforts.
