Every year, nearly 650,000 people leave prison and face a new set of consequences when they return home—from constant surveillance to denied access to employment, education, voting rights, and so much more. The reality of life after incarceration begs the question, “what does it truly mean to be free"? We have the power and responsibility to create support systems that enable formerly incarcerated citizens to reenter society as free and full members of their communities. This panel will explore the collective role that advocates, legislators, industry leaders, and everyday people can play in helping formerly incarcerated citizens come home free.
