The global events of 2020 amplified health equity discussions, driving urgent calls for system reforms to ensure health justice for all individuals, regardless of socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, or geography. Subsequent movements have pushed for an inclusive approach to biomedical research and care. Community needs should be at the center of identifying which problems to research in the biomedical ecosystem. Communities should also be informing research based on their unique health needs and integrating local knowledge and practices to develop tailored interventions. Shifting the focus from research to community will help achieve health equity, especially for historically marginalized groups. In this panel, representatives from multiple sectors will share their knowledge and experience on how diverse stakeholders need to work together to ensure communities are empowered to drive transformative change.
