Gun violence is the leading cause of death in children and teens in the US, and for years, it has been referred to as a public health crisis. This panel will discuss what it means to address this plague through the lens of public health. Many private sector institutions are committed to reducing gun violence; how can they work with the public sector to effect change? How should our public institutions allocate resources and effort—coordinated across all levels, from the federal government to public school classrooms? How can the stakeholders—individuals and organizations—translate their intention into action? We owe it to our communities, our children, and ourselves to create real change.
