Brain Check: Innovations in Prevention, Detection, and Intervention for Neurodegenerative Disease

-

Brain health is essential for all aspects of daily functioning and healthy aging. Yet, many neurodegenerative and brain-based diseases lack effective treatments or cures and are expected to rise as the global population ages. While new FDA-approved treatments are in development, there is much we can do to take charge of our brain health now—just as we do for other aspects of our well-being. A focus on controlling modifiable risk factors such as sleep, nutrition, and exercise can improve our brain health. Regular physical and cognitive assessments, similar to screenings for heart disease or certain types of cancer, can detect early brain changes or identify areas of heightened risk. This panel features leading experts discussing how people can learn about, prevent, and intervene to reduce the risk of neurodegenerative diseases, with a focus on the latest innovations in dementia detection, diagnosis, and therapeutics.
