Author Talk: Nicholas Kristof, "Chasing Hope: A Reporter's Life"

-

In his memoir, Chasing Hope: A Reporter’s Life, Nicholas Kristof admits, “I envision journalism as a [craft] with an ethical mission: a better world.” His colleagues tease him: “You go somewhere, and a crisis breaks out!” Over the course of four decades of venturing into trouble spots for the New York Times, Kristof appreciates how “writing about humanitarian crises could make lives better.” Wary that a crusading stance can trip do-gooders into self-congratulation, he seeks out people with the power to influence events on the ground. When bad things happen, “telling those stories forcefully can summon aid.” Inspired by those he has met who take great risks to help others, Kristof remains an optimist about the future of humanity. Join this conversation with one of today’s most legendary journalists, moderated by his partner in life, Sheryl WuDunn.

As with all Global Conference public sessions, registration is not required to attend an Author Talk, but seating is limited. Seats will be open to the first 50 attendees. We recommend Conference attendees add any Author Talks of interest to your agenda. If you cannot attend the Author Talk or are solely interested in the book signing portion, we encourage you to come to the Global Conference on-site bookstore managed by Barnes & Noble for the final 20 minutes of the scheduled hour.

Books featured in the Author Talks and Book Signings are available for purchase at the on-site bookstore.
