Cheryl Evans is a director in Milken Institute Finance. She leads the Lifetime Financial Security Program. Evans frequently discusses a wide variety of issues related to financial security and retirement savings and has been cited in publications such as Yahoo Finance, Bloomberg News, MarketWatch, CBS News, Pensions & Investments, and TheStreet. She has also written for AARP’s International Website. Evans has led content development for Pensions & Investments magazine’s educational events. She spent almost 10 years at CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals. At CFA Institute, she worked as a senior investigator in its enforcement program, was appointed to help lead the research for its Future of Finance global initiative, and she worked in its educational events and programs area where she also spoke on issues faced by women in finance and law. Evans worked as special counsel at the US Chamber of Commerce, focusing on securities litigation, capital markets, corporate criminal law, and general litigation issues. She was a part of the Chamber’s economic crisis working group, contributed to two capital markets studies, and led a large economic study. She spent over 10 years at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). At the SEC, she worked as senior counsel in the Division of Enforcement where she was a member of the WorldCom case team, she worked in the division of Trading and Markets approving new financial products and drafting and interpreting trading rules, and she conducted compliance exams in the division Examinations. She was appointed to work as a special assistant US attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia prosecuting general criminal cases. She also served as a trial attorney in the Commercial Litigation Section of the Civil Division of the US Department of Justice and was a judicial law clerk at the US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Evans is trained in wellness and life coaching and holds a BA degree in sociology/psychology and French from Marietta College, a JD degree from Rutgers Law School, and an LLM degree in transnational business practice from the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law in conjunction with Salzburg Law School in Austria. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar.
